"Come in, welcome to the room, spend a time! You can hand in your time at the cloakroom there at your right. You are discovering a landscape, that is especially made for you to hang out. And you already find yourself in a grey zone, a transition – a temporary flash of time. Due to the absence of concrete actions, it gets essential to find alternatives in mind. Your bodily condition in time plays a role here. Let yourself go into a SPENDATIME!"
In this Live Audio Performance, the composer Caroline Profanter and the Artist Duo Polyphrenic Creatures invite the audience to invest a moment of their free time into a SPENDATIME. In a landscape full of clods made of noise protection mats, arises a sounding body of 8 loudspeakers and two performers. This sound cloud collects divergent perceptions of time and space. Definitions about time, that synchronize and clock our lives, are un-clocked, through performative and auditive processes . The loudspeakers that are covered with fabric scraps start to vibrate and move the air with a poly-rhythmical pulse pattern. The superposition of sound and vocal samples found in the archive, and real-time generated material, form an immersion of asynchronous processes in time and space. Any attempt to step back into a time-efficient logic is being overwhelmed by an expanding magma. Divagations are explicitly welcome, and not unbidden.
In July 2017 Polyphrenic Creatures and Caroline Profanter presented SPENDATIME in Brussels at QO-2.
